Kėdainiai (Keydan) regional administration directors have resolved to erect a statue to the Vilna Gaon, noting the future Gaon (then the Jewish adolescent known as Eliyahu) studied under a local rabbi and even then caused wonder with his wisdom and learning. The statue has been commissioned from famous Lithuanian sculptor Romualdas Kvintas and will portray the Gaon as a young man. Kvintas has done a number of public sculptures on Jewish and Holocaust themes before.
