Foreign ministers from the EU member-states adopted another declaration October 15 for fostering Jewish life in Europe and combating anti-Semitism, the EU Council of Ministers reported.
The declaration said the current level of anti-Semitism in the EU was alarming.
“The Council demands taking more resolute actions in fighting this,” the declaration announced.
It also addressed Holocaust denial and distortion along well other forms of anti-Semitism.
“These growing trends, especially on the internet, do harm to the Jewish communities, are at odds with collective historical memory and pose a threat to the cohesion and security of the democratic societies of Europe.”
It also called for greater support to Jewish life, culture and education, and Holocaust commemoration.
Another priority designated was the security of Jewish institutions and facilities and support for victims of anti-Semitism.
The Council called on the European Commission, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights and the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training to continue fighting anti-Semitism and to fight harder.
