Although rainy and cool weather clung to Lithuania almost all summer, the vacation season in Druskininkai was much better than last year. In large part this was due to a sudden increase in the number of Israeli tourists. According to the Lithuanian Statistics Department, the total number of tourists in Druskininkai in this half-year increased by 12.6%. The number of tourists from every country except the Russian Federation increased in the city. There were 26% percent more Polish tourists, 11% more Belarusians, 0.6% more Germans, 22% more Latvians and 53% more Israelis than in the previous half-year.
